Betsy Thomas
Betsy Thomas is an award-winning Orchestra clinician residing in Allen, Texas. After a 30-year career with the Plano Independent School District, she retired from Plano East Senior High in 2014. During her tenure, the Plano East Chamber Orchestra earned numerous accolades, including being named the TMEA String Honor Orchestra six times, ranked #1 in the nation twice by the National School Boards Association, and named National Winner of the Mark of Excellence Award by the Foundation for Music Education three consecutive years (2012-2014). Additional awards include over 40 U.I.L. sweepstakes trophies by her groups at Plano East, and numerous Best-In-Class trophies awarded at music festivals. Her personal awards include being named Plano East Senior High Teacher of the Year, listed four times in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, and accepted into the Outstanding Young Women of America.
